What Are Love Languages?
Love languages are the different ways people express and receive love. Psychologist Gary Chapman identified 5 core love languages that explain why some relationships feel deeply connected while others feel distant — even when both people care.
The 5 Love Languages
1. Words of Affirmation
You feel loved when someone tells you how much you mean to them. Compliments, encouragement, and “I love you” go a long way.
2. Acts of Service
Actions speak louder than words. When someone does something helpful for you — cooking, fixing things, running errands — you feel genuinely cared for.
3. Receiving Gifts
It’s not about materialism. A thoughtful gift shows someone was thinking about you. Even small tokens carry deep meaning.
4. Quality Time
Undivided attention is everything. No phones, no distractions — just being fully present with the person you love.
5. Physical Touch
A hug, a pat on the back, holding hands — physical connection makes you feel safe and loved.
Why It Matters
When two people have different love languages, they can love each other deeply but still feel unloved. Understanding your love language — and your partner’s — changes everything.
